The project

KCM had acquired an ageing residential building in a beautiful panoramic location over Zurich, which no longer met today's usage needs. In order to meet the current market requirements, an attractive replacement building was commissioned.

The unconventional site, which is located on a street corner and on a hillside, posed a special architectural challenge due to its trapezoidal outlines, which required a creative solution. In order to achieve the best possible result, three Zurich-based architectural firms were invited to present their ideas as part of a competition.

The winning project submitted by “DNS Architekten” was finally implemented in 2021. The planning challenges were mastered with a great deal of detailed work. The residential building with commercial space on the ground floor impresses today with its well thought-out design and a high standard of ownership. In particular, the use of the square meters in the interior with a flair for detail creates a building that is not only functional and modern, but also has an aesthetically pleasing architecture and blends harmoniously into the surroundings on the Zürichberg.
